What’s a Transfer Certificate?
A Transfer Certificate (also known as a Clearance Certificate) is a document issued by a health fund when a member cancels their cover or wants to transfer to another fund. It acts a bit like your proof of membership.
It’s a record of your health insurance, including:
- names of the people covered
- type of cover
- level of cover
- join and cancellation dates
- waiting periods served
- Certified Age of Entry (which determines your Lifetime Health Cover loading status)
- a history of recent claims.
Without your Transfer Certificate, you could be seen as someone taking out health insurance for the first time (meaning full waiting periods and potential Lifetime Health Cover loading).
