Can I claim for a pre-existing condition?
If the treatment you need is related to a pre-existing condition, you’ll have to wait 12 months* before you can use your Hospital cover for it, if you:
- Are new to private health insurance
- Upgrade to a higher level of cover – i.e. it’s something that was:
- Excluded – and is now restricted or covered
- Restricted – and is now covered.
You can claim for a pre-existing condition if you’ve already served the 12-month waiting period (with us or at another fund – as standard for all health insurers).
*It’s a 2-month waiting period for Hospital psychiatric services, Rehabilitation and Palliative care and 9 months for Pregnancy and birth.
