Teachers Health is delighted to be a 'Diamond Supporter' of Stewart House – the charity's highest sponsorship category. This honour acknowledges the donations and support made to Stewart House by Teachers Health for over 50 years and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the education community.
About Stewart House
Stewart House, located on Sydney's northern beaches, supports 1,700 public school children in need each year. During their 12 days of respite care at Stewart House, the children from all over NSW and the ACT are provided with optical, dental and medical treatment and screening, as well as emotional support. This is balanced with health and educational programs at an onsite school and out-of-school excursions and activities to help develop social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve their overall wellbeing. All activities at Stewart House are offered at no charge to participants.
The infrastructure and staffing support for the school is provided by the NSW Department of Education and Communities, but Stewart House relies on charitable donations to meet all other costs associated with the children's stay: this includes health and wellbeing support, residential care, accommodation, meals and transport to and from the child’s home town.
Our support
Teachers Health has been actively involved with Stewart House for over 50 years and we support its work in a number of ways. Much-needed monetary donations by Teachers Health include workplace giving, fundraising events, and matching dollar-for-dollar any donations made by our staff to the charity. Teachers Health also provides practical, often life-changing, help to the children who stay there by providing glasses or new lenses free of charge from our Health Centres for children who require them – around one in three of the children who visit Stewart House.
Teachers Health is very proud of its long association with Stewart House, supporting the work that the charity does in changing the lives of children in difficult circumstances, giving them hope and positive aspirations for the future.
