Change your cover or compareThe Board of Teachers Health and staff are filled with great sadness following the recent passing of John Hennessy.
John was a former Chair and Public Officer of the NSW Teachers Federation Health Society and served on its management committee for many years.
His contribution to the health society and commitment to looking after its members was outstanding. John’s leadership and vision was pivotal as the health society transitioned to become an incorporated company, and provided the strongest of foundations from which Teachers Health has continued to grow and prosper while staying true to its core principles of looking after members and putting people before profit.
John was General Secretary of the NSW Teachers Federation from 1990 to 2002 and a champion of worker’s rights. His passing is a significant loss to the Teachers Federation and wider union movement, but his achievements and legacy will long be remembered.
