Teachers Health premium increase significantly lower than industry average

06 March 2024 – Sydney, Australia.

With cost of living and member wellbeing top of mind, Teachers Health has kept its average annual premium increase for 2024 at 2.65%. This increase is significantly below the industry average premium increase of 3.03% as well as below annual CPI inflation of 4.1% and below health-related inflation of 5.1%.

This low premium increase by Teachers Health continues their commitment to delivering high-quality health insurance at the lowest possible price, with an average premium increase over the last four years of 2.5%. In addition, Teachers Health Group is pleased to announce their largest increase to member benefits as part of their commitment to putting members at heart. Increases to optical, dental and a range of other benefits ensure that members will get more value from their cover across a range of healthcare services.

CEO Brad Joyce said, “We are proud to continue to put the needs of our members and their wellbeing over profits. Our increase in benefits and below-industry-average premium increase means members get more from their coverage at a time when every saving counts. With members at the heart of everything we do, it’s one of the ways we are helping to look after the communities we care for and ease the cost-of-living pressures on household budgets.”

Comprising Teachers Health, UniHealth and Nurses & Midwives Health, the Group is Australia’s largest industry-based health fund covering over 400,000 lives as the fund for school staff, nurses and midwives, educators, and their families.
