Teachers Health, the fund that supports the health and wellbeing of the Australian education community as well as the nursing and midwifery community through Nurses and Midwives Health, is excited to announce the launch of its new podcast series: Teachers Who Shape Us, hosted by the renowned Australian Paralympian and advocate Kurt Fearnley. This dynamic podcast will provide a platform for engaging discussions on the impact of teachers on students’ lives, featuring influential voices and advocates from a range of fields.

The inaugural season is live on Spotify and Apple podcasts with an impressive lineup of popular Australians, including:

Adam Hills - Renowned comedian, radio host and presenter.

Jane Caro – Author, social commentator, advocate and Order of Australia recipient.  

Brian Schmidt - Nobel laureate, professor and astrophysicist at the Australian National University

Nancy Penfold - Kalkadoon & Mariam Woman, advocate and fifth-generation public school teacher.

Izzy Vincent - Accomplished Australian Paralympic swimmer and disability advocate.

The podcasts will explore the lasting impact of teachers on each guest and how these formative experiences encouraged their achievements in their respective fields. From navigating the challenges of the modern education system to understanding the critical connection between early support and achievement, each episode will feature in-depth conversations that educate, inform and celebrate.

Kurt Fearnley, the series host, brings a wealth of experience and passion for championing inclusivity, resilience, and wellbeing. As a three-time Paralympic gold medallist, teacher, and Order of Australia recipient, Fearnley's strengths and personal journey help guide meaningful discussions with each guest, providing listeners with valuable takeaways and informative discussions. Kurt Fearnley is an ambassador and long-term member of Teachers Health, recognising how support from teachers early in life played an essential role in his later achievements as an athlete and advocate.
